I can totally relate to the cold water issue. I&#039;m originally from Maine where the ocean is cold year round. I live in Massachusetts now so it&#039;s not as bad. I usually just stick to the pool until June or July. Do you swim at a pool in addition to your open water swims?

Please don&#039;t give up on triathlons! Finding time to train while having kids to look after has always been the toughest challenge about being a tri-mom.

I hope you stick around for my next post which will tackle this very issue.

I tri in the Pacific Northwest where open water swim practice before July is really uncomfortably cold!  (running in the rain is OK but cycling is also a bit problematic) But I feel like I have to do my races in June because after the kids are out of school it is impossible to keep up my training.  I&#039;ve started thinking that maybe triathlon isn&#039;t the right sport for me after 8 years.
Someone convince me otherwise!  Or suggest something new!
